    Our Story

    Firefly was born from three decades of professional expertise in the textile trade. Working alongside well known retailers and internationally renowned designers, Firefly wants to share our passion for beautifully unique, artisan-crafted, high quality, innovative products, that will enhance any home. Produced in small batches, the artisan approach enables us to bring stunningly original designs to you, at affordable prices.
    Crewelwork – a kind of embroidery where a design is applied to fabric with wool using a variety of different stitches – has a long history, and is most commonly associated with early 17th century England, from which it was also known as Jacobean embroidery. Since then it has become popular in Kashmir in India, where there is now a strong tradition of crewelwork as one of the handicrafts that provides a sustainable way of life for many local skilled artisans.
    Here at Firefly we have been working closely with our partners in Kashmir to develop eye-catching fabrics using this age-old embroidery technique. Our contemporary designs can complement existing furnishing and have the ability to knit together styles from different decades of interior design. Firefly’s crewelwork fabrics and cushions use only the best resources available – 100% 2 ply wool on a 100% cotton ground – to create stunning items that have a long-lasting and timeless appeal.
    Where stated some products are hand embroidered so therefore patterns and designs may vary. This is a part of the accepted charm of crewelwork, It takes dedicated skilled artisan workers a great deal of time and care to produce these unique products, which will be admired for many years to come.

    Green Packaging

    Here at Firefly we promote green packaging, and are highly aware of the impact that standard plastics and such like have on our oceans, rivers and lakes, also unprecedented landfill sites, therefore it is our mission to eradicate this as much as possible from our footprint. All of our boxes, tape, labels and promotional cards are produced from 100% recycled materials, along with the bags we use to ship our cushions in, which are 100% biodegradable using vegetable components, so they can be placed in the compost bin. We kindly ask that you follow our ethos and recycle or compost the packaging materials our products are shipped in.
